The American Music Awards (abbreviated as the AMAs) is an award show focused in the United States that covers music. Unlike other major music awards, nearly all of its awards are voted by the fans, with some helping off Billboard's charts. Taylor Swift has been been the artist with the most awards received at the show since 2019 when she surpassed Michael Jackson, taking home 6 more awards, for a total of 40 wins out of 49 nominations as of the 2022 AMAs.

The process in which the nominees are chosen is similar to the Billboard awards, with performance on Billboard's charts being the main factor.[2] After that, fans vote amongst themselves. For the first time ever in 2021, fans could vote via TikTok, where the fan could search for AMAs and then select the artist they wished to win. Another route was just going on the website and voting there.
