Reputation Tour diaries[]

Controversy[]

Charli later said about the Reputation Stadium Tour: "I'm really grateful that Taylor asked me on that tour. But as an artist, it felt like I was getting on-stage and waving to a bunch of 5-year-olds." Though she apologized and said "In the printed version of this much wider conversation, my answers were kind of boiled down to one weird sentence-- leading up to that tour I'd been playing a ton of 18+ clubs shows and to be in front of all ages was new to me and made me approach my performances with a whole new kind of energy. I am extremely grateful to Taylor for inviting me to open for me. She's one of the biggest artists of my generation, and the Reputation tour was one of the biggest tours in history."

Following the critical success of XCX's sixth major-label album, Brat, and its debut at number two on the UK Albums Chart, controversy was sparked among Xcx's fans and media outlets, who accused Swift of hogging the number 1 spot in the UK by releasing new versions of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, available only in the UK, the same week that Brat was released.[1][2] Fans started comparing the critical acclaim of Brat to the acclaim of The Tortured Poets Department online, often captioning their posts with "A Taylor morreu", which translates to "Taylor is dead".[3][4] Although the quote wasn't literal, and meant something similar as "Taylor was overshadowed", it gained significant relevance, and eventually reached Xcx. On 22 June 2024, fans screamed the infamous quote during Xcx's Partygirl set at São Paulo, Brazil, and on the same evening she addressed the situation:[5][6][7]

"can the people who do this please stop. online or at my shows. it is the opposite of what i want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. i will not tolerate it."
