Swift wrote this song about Gracie Johnson, a girl with leukemia who she'd met prior to the release of her self-titled debut studio album, Taylor Swift. Johnson passed away in 2019 due to a brain tumor [1][2]. A photograph of Swift with Johnson can be seen in the lyric video for "Love Story (Taylor’s Version)".[3]
