"I Can See You" is the nineteenth track from American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift's third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version), released on July 7, 2023, through Republic Records.
Background[]
The song was first discovered around 2010 when it was registered. It was rumored to be cut from the original album due to the mature nature of the lyrics and Swift's age and image at the time of its release.
Music video[]
On April 8, 2023, Swift was seen filming a music video in Liverpool, featuring Taylor Lautner, Joey King, and Presley Cash. King and Cash were both featured as actors in the music video for "Mean". Fans quickly made connections between the thematic scheme of the song lining up with the look of the candids from the filming of the then-unreleased music video, along with the visuals for the lyric video for the song, all surrounding the idea of a robbery.[2] The music video premiered during The Eras Tour on July 7, 2023, in Kansas City.[3]Lautner, King, and Cash were brought out as special guests for the premiere.
While introducing Lautner to the stage, Swift said "He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video. He and his wife have become some of my closest friends and it's very convenient because we all share the same first name."
The music video occurs on July 9th, at 1:58, Which is a direct reference to lyrics from the song Last Kiss from the album. In the end of the music video, a sign appears saying "1989 TV", which was an easter egg for 1989 (Taylor's Version) that was announced a month later.

Lyrics[]
[Intro]
I-I-I-I
[Verse 1]
You brush past me in the hallway
And you don't think I, I, I can see you, do you?
I’ve been watching you for ages and I
Spend my time tryin' not to feel it
[Pre-Chorus]
But what would you do if I went to touch you now?
What would you do if they never found us out?
What would you do if we never made a sound?
[Chorus]
'Cause I can see you waitin’ down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew
That I can see you
[Post-Chorus]
I-I-I-I
[Verse 2]
And we kept everything professional
But something's changed—, it's something I, I like
They keep watchful eyes on us, so
It's best that we move fast and keep quiet
You won't believe half the things I see inside my head
Wait till you see half the things that haven't happened yet
[Pre-Chorus]
And what would you do if I went to touch you now?
What would you do if they never found us out?
What would you do if we never made a sound?
[Chorus]
'Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew, oh-oh, oh-oh
Yeah, I could see you throw your jacket on the floor
I could see you make me want you even more
What would you do? Baby, if you only knew
That I can see you
[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh, oh-oh
[Bridge]
I can see you in your suit and your neck-tie
Passed me a note saying, "Meet me tonight"
Then, we kissed and you know I won’t ever tell, yeah
And I could see you being my addiction
You can see me as a secret mission (A secret mission)
Hide away and I will start behaving myself
I-I-I-I
Oh-oh, oh-oh
[Chorus]
And I can see you waitin’ down the hall from me
And I could see you up against the wall with me
And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew
And I could see you throw your jacket on the floor
I could see you make me want you even more
What would you do? Maybe if you only knew
That I can see you, oh, I can see you
[Outro]
Oh, I see you, I see you, baby
I see you
(I-I, I-I) I see you, I see you, baby
Oh, baby
