Taylor Swift Wiki

Scott Samuel "Scooter" Braun (born June 18, 1981) is a talent manager and entertainment executive. The founder of entertainment and media company SB Projects, Braun used to represent Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, Hilary Duff, Demi Lovato and Tori Kelly among others. He was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016.

In 2019, Braun bought Big Machine Records, in turn receiving the masters to all of Swift's music, other than the songs from her seventh studio album, Lover. This was devastating for Swift, who was not offered a chance to buy her own masters before the sale, who penned a lengthy response to Braun following the incident.[1]

This caused many celebrities, including Scott Borchetta [2] and Demi Lovato (who had only been signed to Scooter for a month) to respond to the situation, in favor of Scooter. He reportedly wrote a response on Justin Bieber’s Instagram, pretending to be Justin.[3]

Many other celebrities though, including Todrick Hall and Cara Delevingne (whose comment was deleted by Justin), have reaching out in support of Swift. Scooter’s wife Yael Cohen, Scott Borchetta, and Justin Bieber all claim that Scooter was excited to work with Taylor, but Todrick quickly disproved this by stating on his Twitter that he had heard from Scooter’s own mouth that he is not a Swift fan.[4] The hashtag #WeStandWithTaylor was trending on Twitter. Many celebrities, including Billie Eilish, have unfollowed him on social media.

Fans held a streaming party for the two singles from Lover, and refrained from streaming her other albums to prevent Braun from gaining money. This is also being done because a group that Braun is tied to supports and sends money to fund the Yemen genocide.[5] Fans and Swift alike were distraught, and are advocating and starting petitions for the opportunity for Taylor to get her masters back.

In an interview, he said that people were attacking and threatening him and his family and because of that he changed his mind on running for office.

November 2019[]

More drama arose when Taylor came out with a statement, saying that Scooter and BMR would not allow her to perform her old music at her Artist of the Decade performance during the 2019 American Music Awards.[6]

November 2020[]

Taylor Swift wrote on her Twitter account[7] about how Scooter sold the rights to her first 6 albums for 300 million dollars, without letting her bid on them, and those who did buy it couldn't tell her before the deal was done. He also tried to trick her into signing a strange agreement that she would never say anything about him unless it was positive.

2021-2023[]

Taylor has released re-recordings of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989. On November 28, 2022, Rolling Stone names the purchase of Taylor Swift's catalogue by Braun the 21st worst decision in music history.[8] "Vigilante Shit", off of Swift's tenth studio album Midnights, is rumored to be written about Braun, but this has never been confirmed.
