Hello! Welcome/Welcome back to my blog! This is my second blog ever! I have a really biased opinion and here’s what I think. (No hate on either Olivia or Taylor its just my opinion)
One thing that’s been viral lately is an alleged “Feud” between Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, and in that “feud” a lot of misinformation spread so this is all true and mostly fact checked evidence. (I’m not hating on Rodrigo or Swift)
So back in 2021 Olivia Rodrigo released smash hit “Deja Vu” as the second single from her debut album “SOUR” and it hit critical acclaim calling it “As a strong follow up to Drivers License”. The song peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2021 many critics and influencers compared the record to Swift’s “Cruel Summer” making it go viral on TikTok. Sometime in July 2021 Rodrigo gave Swift writing credits on the song. A common misinterpretation is that Swift legally made Rodrigo give her credits or that Taylor sued Olivia which is false and the reason why isn’t known but most likely was due to the online backlash. This made many people think there was a feud which in my opinion isn’t true because it would be Taylors fault. If there was a feud it would be incredibly petty on Rodrigos side.
To anyone who says “WeLl OliVIa Did’nT HAvE To RELeaSE ThE SoNg” she didn’t, have to but it was her own personal decision and nobody was told they had to stream the song.
2023 VMAS “SwIFt Was MOCkIng OliIVIA” or “SwiFT SaT AcRosS fROM oliVia” well first is she wasn’t mocking Olivia, Second it doesn’t matter where she sat, she was sitting with her friends. “WeLL ShE Was’NT SittING WiTH oLIVia” that really doesn’t mean anything.
”WeLL NeiTHeR HaVe’nT MenTIONed EachOtHER ReCentlY” That’s because Olivia doesn’t want to be known as the “Second Taylor” or “Swifty’ she wants to be known for her music and not for being a Swifty.
