Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik (born January 12, 1993) is a British singer-songwriter who is a friend of Taylor Swift and has collaborated with her professionally as well.
Career[]
At age 17, Zayn first gained notice when he tried out for the British TV talent show The X Factor in 2010 and was put into a boy band with 4 other singers. The group, One Direction, became huge with their first 4 albums all going platinum and their singles such as "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Live While We're Young" all becoming huge hits. Zayn, however, decided to leave One Direction in 2015 after the release of the group's fourth album, Four, to focus on a solo career. His debut solo album, Mind of Mine, was released in 2016, and his second album, Icarus Falls, was released in 2018. Both albums have received positive reviews from critics.
Relation with Swift[]
Zayn co-wrote the song 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever' with Swift in 2017, for the movie Fifty Shades Darker.
Zayn also dated Swift's friend, Gigi Hadid, starting in November, 2015. Their relationship has been on and off with them having broken up as recently as November 2018. They later got back together and had a daughter, who was born in September 2020. They split for good in October 2021.
